TiPB Standing in Line for the iPhone 3G S

I’m at the Apple Flagship Store, waiting in line for the latest, greatest iPhone 3G S. 10 or so people right now, but apparently some tour buses are on the way. We’ll update this thread with more from TiPb and our readers, so if you’re in line, head over to the TiPb iPhone Forums and post your pics, stories, and videos. Dieter will move some of the funnest over here.

Our good pal Matthew Miller of Nokia Experts fame lined up in Seattle at 2:30am local.

Meanwhile, many folks in Europe already have the 3G S in hand, per pguich in our iPhone Forums:

Switzerland started selling iphones about an hour ago. I was there 5 minutes before opening, and there were about 3 people waiting (I think 2 weren’t even there for the iphone). Doesn’t look like the mad rush from last year is going to happen.

Chad Garrett boldly waited until 6:00 am to line up at Kenwood Towne Center in Cincinnati, OH and it doesn’t look like he’ll miss out on his iPhone 3G S because of his tardiness.

Forum member nyknicks4412 is genuinely excited about his iPhone 3G S video taken in the parking lot above.

Leanne Lofte isn’t so sure that she needed to show up at 5:30am in Monterey, CA, what with only nine people in line.

Matthew Miller sends word that rain has finally come to Seattle… just in time to fall on iPhone Line sitters. Fortunately, there are umbrellas to be had.

Rene’s all set! No activation yet, though — has to go home and do it through iTunes, he says.

AT&T Gets their iPhone 3G S Pack On!

AT&T (via MacRumors) has posted a video of iPhone 3G S getting dressed up for its big debut tomorrow morning. If you ordered from them Empire, one of those just might be yours!

Things to love and hate about the Nokia N97

There are things we all love and hate about the devices we buy, no matter how awesome they are. At first you read that I was pleased with the N97, but not overwhelmed. I plan to post soon my 1 week thoughts on the N97 and have to say I am much more impressed with it than when I first started using it. Our Nokia Experts buddy, Ricky Cadden, received his white N97 this week and put together things he loves about the N97 and things he hates about the N97.

I agree with all of the things he loves and could include several more as you will see in my one week with the N97 post. I also completely agree with items 1 (this is my MAJOR pet peeve), 2, 5, and 6 of his hate list. As the flagship product, priced quite high, I would not expect to see a few of these things listed in his hate list and hope that Nokia addresses some of them soon with updates. My fear is that those of us with NAM devices will continue to be left behind with updates, but since we actually saw the N97 available before most of the world maybe Nokia has changed and their updates will come to us in a timely manner as well.

Any readers with a Nokia N97 care to chime in with your love/hate list?

Nokia E72 announced with 5 megapixel camera, updated keyboard, 3.5mm headset jack

So we posted on the E72 video just a short while ago and now All About Symbian has all the details on the upcoming Nokia E72. I love my E71/E71x and now I am really lusting after this device and am not sure I can resist this bad boy.

The E72 comes with S60 3rd Edition Feature Pack 2 (just like our AT&T E71x folks), awesome E75-like Nokia Messaging client (Nokia needs to make this available as a download for ALL E71/E71x owners!), 5 megapixel camera, slightly redesigned keyboard with a smaller space bar, 3.5mm headset jack (finally!), compass, and more improvements. It is an incremental upgrade, but a mighty fine one that I think may be added to my collection in the future.

Any other Nokia E71/E71x fans think this looks like an attractive upgrade option?

Pass The Parcel ends with PhoneDog.com getting a Nokia 5530 XM

I guess I wasn’t clear on how the promotion was working as I thought the last blog drawn was going to win the prize, but it turns out it was the blog that hosted the video where the product was actually revealed. I guess I should have been praying to get selected today instead of hoping to be the last blog standing I was wrong about the product that was going to be revealed as the Nokia XpressMusic 5530 was inside the package.

The 5530 looks like a pretty cool device, similar to the Nokia 5800 XM that I thoroughly enjoy. I particularly like the Media Bar drop-down and would have LOVED to have seen this on my Nokia N97 since there isn’t a real easy way to get to your media on the N97.

Symbian Guru has all the details on this new Nokia XpressMusic device and it looks quite nice at a fairly low price (US$277).

One Thing I Wouldn’t Do for a Palm Pre

The much hyped Palm Pre is just days away from release and things are getting downright weird. Check out the picture of this nut who got a huge Palm Pre tattoo on his arm in order to win a free device.
