HUP Renewals-Fido

Effective immediately for customers who are on loyalty/retention plans, or “old” Fido plans (before November 4th, 2008).  Contract renewals may now only be done within 180 days (6 months) of the end of the contract, not 14 months as previously allowed.

Fido Dollars may still be used to reduce handset pricing if you are not eligible for a renewal credit.  Fido Dollars are can also be used when completing a HUP to reduce the handset pricing even more.

Best Buy Supports Earth Day

With Earth Day next week, April 22, all the major retailers are getting involved in one way or another.

Bring in your old cellphone to Best Buy next week and get $25 off the purchase of a new phone.  If you are buying a phone priced at $0 you will receive a $25 store credit for accessories.  The $25 accessory credit must be used at the time of purchase and no cash will be given back if the accessory is less than $25.

The trade-in program is only available for new contracts, contract renewals, and upgrades.  Thus prepaid phones are not eligible.   Trade-in incentives are only valid from April 17, 2009 – April 23, 2009 and must be done in-store.

Cricket Scores the Hint

Boy does this fully QWERTY slider sure get around.  Bell and MetroPCS released the Hint earlier and now its available through Cricket.  Cricket’s Motorola Hint is selling for $229.99 after a $20 web discount.  Of course the Hint features a full QWERTY keyboard, 2.0 MP camera, video capture, and music player.

Virgin’s Got You Protected

Virgin Mobile USA’s Pink Slip Protection program will cover your monthly bill for three months in the event you lose your job.  Pink Slip Protection is provided free of charge on all monthly plans-check out the details below the image.

New customers are automatically enrolled in the program, current customers will have to fill out and submit the registration form online.  Two months of service must have been paid in full after enrolling in the program before claiming the three free months.

Current customer have until June 30, 2009 to sign up while new customers will have until the end of the year (December 31, 2009) to enroll.
